Room 6 sent away two more box loads of oral care waste last week to Terracycle.  There is only 2 weeks to go until the Colgate Community Recycle Drive finishes on 31st August 2016.

We are going to send away the last of our oral care waste on Friday 26th August so keep sending any of your toothbrushes, toothpaste tubes, floss containers and packaging to Room 6!

Oral Care Waste Recycling

Thank you to all families who have sent in their Oral Care Waste to be recycled.  Room 6 sent off two box loads at the end of last term.  This is a great programme that keeps oral care waste out of landfills and converts them into new products such as recycled park benches and upcycled lunch boxes.

By sending in our oral waste care we also go into the draw for 20 x$1000 prizes and the opportunity to win a recycled park bench.  The drive finishes on 31st August 2016 so please keep sending your oral care waste to Room 6!

Ryder and Pirate Lavender

Pirate Lavender came to stay with me for a weekend.  Pirate Lavender went to bed with me on Friday night.  She is a good sleeper.  When I woke up I noticed my book was gone.  I had left it beside my bed. I wondered where it went and thought that Pirate Lavender might have hidden it.  But I found in under my desk.

We went to the library and read books.  Pirate Lavender likes to read Wimpy Kid books. We also played with the connecting spinners.

Pirate Lavender

When Pirate Lavender came to my house we went to the Museum. We looked at tonnes of stuff.  Pirate Lavender played on the piano, she was very good.  Then we went back home she found a water gun and she played with it.   Pirate Lavender was very tired to she read a book.  She also played with my cat Shankly.

Save our planet

About 30 million toothbrushes and 80 million toothpaste tubes end up in the dump each year - so don’t let that happen.

The school could win $1000 and other good stuff.  You can help by giving Room 6 these things ... floss containers, old toothbrushes / packets + toothpaste tubes, boxes and caps.

Hurry ends November  1st -Thanks.

The Boulder Bank

On Friday night I went to the disco and Pirate Lavender came too.  We ate some lollies.

After the disco me and Pirate Lavender made a t-shirt.  I found some material and made into a t-shirt.

On Sunday Dad, Vanessa, Hazel, Ben, Pirate Lavender and I went to the Boulder Bank.  We found a goat's leg! Pirate Lavender thought that it was amazing!  We both wondered how it got there.  Then Dad told us that some people might of cut the goat up and thrown away the parts they didn't want out to sea.

We also saw a fish as well and Pirate Lavender tried to eat it and I touched its eye ball.  It felt like hard jelly.  Hazel found a love heart rock.

Pirate Lavender Visits Katelyn

Pirate Lavender came for a drive with us to pick up my brother from Pak-in-Save.  When we got back I played on my scooter and then I played on my bike.  Pirate Lavender was holding on to the bar of my bike because she was scared.  After that we played basketball and Pirate Lavender scored a goal!
We then had a sleep. Pirate Lavender passed out because she was so tired because of all of the things we did.

Pirate Lavender with Jackson

Pirate Lavender came with me to this very cool place. My big brother Trevor and I went kayaking and we had some good food. We ate cookies, cake as well as sausages. I am sure Pirate Lavender enjoyed the kayaking.

Pirate Lavender with Cruz

When we went for a bike ride we went down to my great-uncle's boat. Pirate Lavender sat on the steering wheel of my bike.  She had a great time.

On the boat we were going through big waves and I got wet from the waves.  So we put Pirate Lavender in mum's bag so she wouldn't get splashed. We went fishing, but we didn't catch anything.

OE Day

On Friday we went to Tahunanui Beach because it was OE Day.  Here are some of our favourite things:
  • Making the sand sculpture because I made a SAIL sign and we got to sit in the boat (Elan)
  • Swimming because the water was cold and refreshing (Maddy)
  • The art because we got to do a leaf rubbing (Mataiyasi)
  • The challenge because you had to lay down (Lyric)
  • Looking after my younger buddy because she was nice (Tara)
  • Swimming because when you went in the water was deep and warm (Katelyn)
  • The challenge because we were trying to find nature stuff (Armarni)
  • Swimming because I looked for crabs in the water (Blaze)
  • I liked the challenge when you had to put a blindfold on and your buddy helped you around the cones (Nathan)
  •  I liked the sand sculpture because when you built a sand castle you could build a trench down to the water (Cruz)
  •  I liked the pastel rock drawings because you could do cool art (Gus)
